St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Port Hope

The Annunciation of the Lord                     31 March 2019

to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Service Music: As we are celebrating the Annunciation of the Lord today, the German Mass, including the Gloria, will be sung.

Laetare Sunday: Today is also Laetare (meaning Rejoice) Sunday. Also known as Pink or Rose Sunday, the fourth Sunday in Lent is a day on which Lenten austerity is lightened. Therefore flowers are permitted and the triptych is opened.

German Mass Cards: We have lost over half of the Mass cards originally ordered. PLEASE do not take the cards home, do not stuff them into bulletins or books, do not put them in the book racks,or throw them away. The cards are not one-time use items, and they do cost money. After each service, place the card on the pew seat so we can easily see and collect them. The choir is asked to use their booklet copies and not the cards. Thank you for your cooperation.

Five Minutes Monthly will take place today after coffee hour.

The Angelus will be said today after the postlude. Gather at the icon table at the back of the church.

Morning Prayer: Thursday & Friday, 9.30 in the rectory.

Centering Prayer: Every Thursday, 3.00 in the mezzanine.  The previously announced Tuesday session is cancelled.

Wednesday Eucharist in April: Wednesday Eucharists will take place at St. Mark’s at 10:00

Stations of the Cross: This Wednesday (April 3) at 6.30. As St. Mark’s does not have a set of stations, we will “Walk Through” the stations seated in the church chancel in a circle. We will use the traditional 14 stations this Wednesday, and modern variations of these on Friday April 12 (6.30), and Good Friday, April 19 (10.30). A sheet of background information on the Stations is available today. See rear shelf.

Blessing of Chimes: Our chimes will be blessed today following the Prayers of the People at 10.30.

Anointing for Healing will be offered on April 14 (Palm Sunday).

Liturgy Training: Dates and times after Easter TBA. Your input around this is asked.
