Welcome to St. Mark’s
On behalf of the congregation, it’s my pleasure to welcome you here. We’re a parish of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto. But we’re also a place where people like you come to encounter the holy in their lives. Whether you’re a long time church-goer, someone newly arrived in town, or someone with more questions than experience, you are welcome here. Each of us is looking for companionship with God–the one who seeks us out and shows us who we really are.
We find our centre in the celebration of the Eucharist or Holy Communion. It’s a tradition that brings us near to the heart a great mystery, the mystery of ourselves made in the image and likeness of God. We’re supported in this by many talented folk, people whose time and talents bring us everything from good food to good music.
The nourishment that St, Markers take from their common life of prayer and offering moves us to take leading roles in the life of Port Hope and the world. For instance, we’re involved in housing for seniors and the developmentally challenged. We help feed the hungry of our community in cooperation with the Greenwood Coalition and other faith communities. And most recently we’ve been involved in welcoming Syrian refugees. We also give generous support to Faithworks, a diocesan program that provides funds for social agencies within the Toronto region and around the world.
Wherever you are in your spiritual life, you are invited to be part of our community. You’ll find people to talk to, nurturing liturgy, and a challenge to go into the world with renewed commitment to become ever more Christ-like: increasingly one with God in holiness of life and in service to God’s people.
May God richly bless you,
