Our Annual FaithWorks Campaign Within the area of Caring for people who are homeless, and ex-prisoners, is Warming Room Community Ministries. The Mission of WRCM is to nurture a community that challenges homelessness, food insecurity, and social exclusion in the City of Peterborough by responding to immediate needs, breaking down barriers amongst us and advocating for systemic change. The Warming Room provides a safe, warm place for those who find themselves homeless and can’t or won’t use the current shelter system to sleep during the winter months.  The Warming Room also works to connect people with services that can help them meet their goals and better their quality of life. One Roof Community Centre is open 365 days a year from 12 to 7 PM and serves free meals every day. One Roof offers professional training, life skills, community building, harm reduction, access to primary health care and a safe space to be. Friendships are made, achievements are celebrated and hardships are overcome. Located at St. John’s Anglican Church, Peterborough.

FaithWorks will help to sustain our local outreach ministry through the 15% parish retainer. Each parish is encouraged to retain up to 15% of what it raises to support outreach projects locally.

Cinema St. Mark returns in June with a grab bag of films, all different in technique and all showings Fridays at 7.30 in the mezzanine:

  • June 8My Beautiful Laundrette (1986). In Margaret Thatcher’s Britain, Pakistani immigrant Omar talks his rich uncle into letting him manage a run-down laundrette.
  • June 15The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964). A love story in three acts, told as an unorthodox but lovely musical.
