Cinema St. Mark in the Mezzanine – January 25, 7.30—Choose Me. Alan Rudolph, dir., 1984. A late-night radio host, a drifter, and a female bar owner, cross paths in a story told as it might actually have happened: co-incidental meetings, dumb misunderstandings, random chance, the endless surprises of human nature. Told in a film-noir setting of shadow and night, but not without optimism.
Tuesday, Tea, and Theology – Led by Fr. Patrick, the next meeting will be on Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. We are reading C. S. Lewis, Surprised by Joy

Outreach & Social Justice would like to present this Motion to Vestry– Because we follow Jesus Christ as Lord, who preached good news to the poor, who declared that whatever we do for those who lack food, drink, or clothing, the sick, the stranger, and the prisoner, we do for him, and who commands us t love our neighbours as ourselves, and
Because our baptismal covenant calls us to seek and serve Christ in all persons, to strive for justice and peace among all people, and to respect the dignity of every human being,
We, the Vestry of the parish of St. Mark, Port Hope, commit to standing in solidarity with those living in poverty by taking the following actions: 1) increasing our direct outreach by 5% and 2) increasing out advocacy by building alliances with groups providing, and working for, housing for all. (Pick up background material at the back of the church!)
