Ash Wednesday: A word of thanks to the choir and all who came out on Ash Wednesday evening, I was impressed by the lovely atmosphere of intimacy and warmth as we began Lent in the chancel. Supper at The Beamish was nice, too. RM+

Cinema St. Mark: This Friday, March 22, 7.30 pm in mezzanine. Le Quattro Volte (2011). A thoughtful look into the cycles of life in a southern Italian village. Next Friday, March 29: Breaking The Waves.

Five Minutes Monthly: Sunday March 24 following the 10.30 eucharist. Readings are available today at rear of Church.

Lenten Day 2019. With Bishop Kevin Robertson. Theme: Reflections on Faith and Unity from the Holy City. At St. John’s, Port Hope, Saturday April 6. Coffee at 9.00. Session: 9.30—2.00 pm. See St. John’s website for more info. Register by March 29. 885-2171.

The Angelus: Gather at the rear of the Church today following the postlude. 

 Stations of the Cross: Proposed dates are Friday April 5 & 12 at 6.00 pm.

Good Friday at 11.00 am followed by a light collation.

Liturgy Training: I’m proposing Aidan Kavanaugh’s On Liturgical Theology as the “textbook” for this mini course. Dates: 4-5 consecutive Sundays in late April-May. Advise me of your interest. RM+

Town Hall Meetings With Bishop Asbil. Our diocesan bishop will hold a series of town hall meetings to hear and discuss issues confronting parishes in the diocese. No formal agenda, the goal is open dialogue. St. James Cathedral, Toronto: Wednesday, May 1, 2.00 pm. St. Andrew, Scarborough: Thursday, May 2, 7.00 pm. St. Paul, Uxbridge: Saturday, May 4, 2.00 pm. St Mark’s Chimers – our choir girls will use the chimes on Sundays in Lent.

The next Greenwood dinner is on Wednesday March 20. The menu will be pasta with salads and desserts. Sign- up sheet is on the notice board at the back of the church.

Tuesday Tea & Theology, hosted by Patrick Gray, will meet on March 26 at 3 p.m. We’ll discuss Martin Luther by Eric Metaxis. The book is available at Furby House Books

March 29 is the next Fifth Sunday Book Sale & Exchange. Please tell Doug Armstrong that you are willing to help him set it up

Maitrise des Hauts de France Boys Choir, Lille, France, will perform in St. Mark’s on Thurs. July 25 (we host them for 2 nights: July 24 & 25). Be sure to mark your calendars

On April 17th at about 11 am we will again host a Peter Brotherhood Tour, lasting about 40 minutes. The tour will use the facilities, see the labyrinth and visit the Massey plot in the cemetery. We will need volunteers. A friendly smile and willingness to help are all that is required. A short history of the church and cemetery will be available to volunteers and visitors alike. The St. Mark’s Heritage Foundation is pleased to announce a return engagement of the Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir with guest soloist Ellen Torrie on Saturday 11 May 2019 @ 2 pm.
