Church School Also known as Sunday School. A time of fellowship and religious instruction for children. St. Mark's uses an inter-denominational curriculum called Seasons of the Spirit.

Congregation Members of a worshipping community who make up the parish church.

Creed A concise, formal, and authorised statement of important points of Christian doctrine. The classic examples are the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed.

Holy Eucharist The title Eucharist (meaning thanksgiving) for the central act of Christian worship is explained either because at its institution Christ gave thanks, or because the service is the supreme act of Christian thanksgiving. Eucharist is the act of receiving the bread (body of Christ) and the wine (blood of Christ). Other names are the Holy Communion, the Lord's Supper, and the Mass.

Hymnal A book of sacred poetry set to music. Forms a part of Christian worship, whether to express doctrine or the devotion of individuals. St. Mark's uses the hymn book Common Praise.

Incumbent Also commonly called the Rector, Minister, or Priest of the parish church.

Parish An area under the spiritual care of the incumbent. The geographical boundaries of St. Mark's are, roughly, the east side of Port Hope town, and Ward 2 (the former Hope Township).

Prayer Book Book of Alternative Services (BAS), Book of Common Prayer (BCP).
